About Me

Hello!

Follow me on Instagram and check out my latest work!

I am Kami Schexnayder - an on location portrait photographer based in San Antonio, Texas - and I believe every person’s story deserves to be seen.

My work is about people. I’m drawn to the honest moments, the small gestures, the sparks of personality that tell who someone is beyond a smile. Whether I’m photographing a high school senior stepping into the next chapter, a family celebrating the messy, beautiful rhythm of life, a professional sharpening their personal brand, or a couple exchanging vows, my goal is the same: create strong, artful images that feel like you.

I earned my degree in Performance Art at Louisiana State University, where I first discovered how lighting, body movement, and composition work together to tell a compelling story. That foundation taught me to see portraiture as more than a single image — it’s a moment shaped by light, gesture, and intention.

To deepen and refine my craft, I’ve pursued ongoing education with some of the field’s most respected photographers. I’ve taken photography master classes at PCU and attended workshops with Scott Robert Lim, Caroline Tran, Hernan Rodriguez, Kevin Jairaj, Niah Aldrich, Vanessa Joy, Bob Davis, Julie Gaylor, and Jonathan Thorpe, learning advanced lighting techniques, nuanced posing, and methods for creating emotionally resonant images. These mentors pushed me to sharpen both my creative vision and technical skill.

I also prioritize staying current with the fast-changing tools and technologies of photography — from camera systems and lighting equipment to post‑production workflows. Continuous learning ensures my work remains fresh, efficient, and capable of celebrating each client’s uniqueness with clarity and care.

Together, my academic background in performance and my continued training with industry leaders shape a portrait approach that is thoughtful, expressive, and technically strong — designed to capture the human spirit in every session.
